Man Left Him Tied To Sled With A Note: “Over 10 Yrs Old, Can No Longer Walk”
March 27, 2022
He was strapped down in a sled & unable to move when his owner abandoned him overnight outside of a shelter.
Perry, a Pyrenees, was left tied to a sleigh outside the Wanderers' Rest Humane Association in Cazenovia, New York, with only a bucket of water and a note that read, “Over 10 years old.” “I am unable to walk.”
When rescuers found Perry, he was unable to move and was terrified and sad. They claimed he appeared defeated and had almost given up on life.
He’s now walking and in much better spirits after the shelter took him in and started him on physiotherapy and laser treatments. Perry had a nasty skin infection when he first arrived, as well as two types of Lyme disease, which could explain why he was so down. His fur was also so matted that it made it harder for him to maneuver and walk.
Perry is no longer recognizable. He’s much happier now and moves around much more easily. Perry’s photo was posted on the shelter’s website the day he was rescued, and he has since received support from thousands of people across the country. Workers at the shelter wanted to remind people that there are resources available to help them if they believe they will be unable to care for an animal, and that abandonment is not an option.
Perry will be fostered by his physiotherapist while he continues his treatments, and you might end up adopting him permanently!
Perry’s former owner, a 60-year-old man, has been tracked down and charged with failing to provide veterinary care.
