Border Collie Found Buried Alive Under Pile Of Rocks Gets Adopted By Rescuer

Jake, a border collie, is putting his traumatic past behind him and embarking on a new life with one of his rescuers.

Charlotte and her husband were hiking in the Scottish Highlands last November when they heard a dog crying and whimpering. When they got close enough, they discovered a severely injured border collie buried beneath a pile of rocks.

One of the Scottish SPCA’s responding inspectors, Yvonne Sloss, said she still has flashbacks to the heartbreaking moment she discovered Jake.

They immediately called Scottish SPCA for help.

“All I felt when I saw Jake was shock, sadness, and disbelief.” His head was swollen and he was in such a bad condition."

The poor dog was not expected to make it through the night, according to rescuers. He was comatose and had extensive injuries when he arrived at Glasgow Animal Clinic.

But he overcame the odds and survived.

Jake had skull fractures, a dislocated jaw, infection, and needed one eye removed after a thorough examination.

Mark Greener, another inspector involved in the case, took the sweet boy in after he received all of the necessary surgeries.

Greener met Jake on his first day on the job, and it was “a day I’ll never forget,” he said. Jake was an instant hit with him, and he offered to foster him over the holidays. Greener began to trust the recovering puppy, and the two became inseparable. Jake was adopted by Greener because he couldn’t imagine life without him.

“Loving, bouncy, and an incredible sook (charmer),” he says of his new pal. Jake and his new father express their gratitude to all of the people who helped save his life. “Because of you, I’m here, I’m safe, and I’m happy,” Jake would say if he could speak.

Jake now spends his days walking and swimming, and he has finally gotten the happy ending he so richly deserves. To hear Jake’s full story and see the love between the rescued dog and his new father, watch the video below.
