Zoe Kravitz Says Her ‘Batman’ Schedule Included Quality Kitty Time

March 28, 2022

Zoë Kravitz is gaining lots of popularity with her recent stints in DC movies, specifically The Lego Batman Movie and the newest release, The Batman. She’s certainly familiar with playing the feline femme fatale before her onscreen debut.

In the acting world, actors and actresses alike not only go through a variety of preparations to prepare for a role, but sometimes they even choose to really immerse in the character (think Sam Elliot purposely fading his costume and re-tracing General Buford’s route in Gettysburg or Christian Bale purposely losing a mass amount of weight for his role in American Beauty.)

However, Zoë’s preparation seems a lot more fun and cuddly! Speaking with Jimmy Fallon about her role as Selina Kyle, a.k.a Catwoman in The Batman, she explains that her schedule included “cat time” in order to bond with her feline friends on camera.

“They were the hardest thing to control during the shooting,” Kravitz said. “We were doing crazy stunts and all that was fine, but then getting a cat to stay in one place? impossible.”

As part of her training, she needed to get to know the cats as if she truly were Selina Kyle and they were Selina’s cats.

“It’s funny, they would say, ‘Training at 1:30, and then rehearsal at this time, and then cat time,'” she recalled. “I was like, ‘What’s cat time?’ And it was just putting me in a room with a bunch of cats, with the cats that were going to be my cats. But the cats didn’t care. I was just sitting here and the cats would just walk away. It did nothing.”

In a room filled with kitties and cat videos? Yes please!

I’d certainly want to be stuck in a room full of kitties on purpose! Kravitz also said during her interview with Fallon that she watched TONS of kitty videos (don’t we all?) in order to analyze their fighting style. for those who aren’t familiar with the character, Catwoman has cat-like movements and consistently uses a fighting style that matches the four-legged fuzzy friends. Check out the interview below! Oh, did we also mention she would drink like a cat to prepare for her role?

In addition to Kravitz, Robert Pattinson portrays Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Ferrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Andy Serkis as Bruce’s trusty butler Alfred Pennyworth. In theaters now.
