Saved From A Dog Meat Truck, She Spent Years Suffering At Overcrowded Shelter

April 2, 2022

Unfortunately, the dog meat trade continues to thrive in places like China and South Korea. The dogs are crammed into small wire cages with no food, water, or medical care as they await slaughter.

Some dogs are fortunate enough to be saved, but even those who are saved suffer.

“Safe” is a relative term in this case, Paws 4 Hope wrote. “There’s safe from slaughter, safe from disease, and then there’s safe from neglect and starvation for a lifetime.”

Despite the fact that this dog, now named Hope, was rescued from a dog meat truck in Harbin, China, and taken to a shelter, she spent many years there without proper food or medical attention.

Harbin’s shelters try to save as many dogs as they can from being slaughtered, but they can’t afford to care for all of them.

Hope was rescued from the shelter thanks to HarbinSHS, a Harbin-based rescue dedicated to rescuing animals from the dog meat trade, as well as local abuse, neglect, and abandonment cases.

Hope was in poor health, with mange covering her entire body, causing her hair to fall out and her skin to become crusty and scabby.

Her skin will eventually heal back to normal after she receives treatment at the rescue.

She’s come a long way since her days on the slaughter truck, but she’s now safe and receiving the medical care she so desperately needed.
