Woman faces down bobcat to save her Chihuahua’s life: ‘Don’t mess with my little baby’

Our pets are like family to many of us, and we will go to great lengths to protect them, even if it means putting ourselves in danger.

That was the case for one woman, who had to fight a wild animal to save the life of her small dog.

Christina LaRock of Vermont is the proud owner of Tiny, a rescue Chihuahua. She recently jumped when Tiny was on the verge of becoming a meal for a larger animal.

The Chihuahua was attacked by a bobcat while out for a walk, and the bobcat bit straight through his harness, intent on making the dog its prey.

Christina told NECN, “The cat came around the corner and just latched onto him.” “With his teeth, he tore right through the fabric.”

Christina, on the other hand, was not about to let the big cat get away with her small dog. She jumped into defensive mode and fought off the wild animal.

“I just gave him a good old left hand upside the head, and I think it stunned him enough to make him flee,” she explained. “Don’t mess with Tiny, my tiny baby!”

She put herself in danger for the sake of her dog, but thankfully they both survived after she scared the bobcat away. Christina wrote on Facebook, “I was able to scare it away and me and my dog are fine.”

Local wildlife experts told NECN that bobcat attacks like this are uncommon, despite the fact that the animal clearly saw the dog as prey. Bobcats, according to Paul Brown of Vermont Fish & Wildlife, “pose very little threat to human health or safety.”

However, there are exceptions, and Christina advises pet owners to be cautious when out with their pets.

Christina told NECN, “Just be cautious.” “You never know what will happen.”
