Heartbre-aking, The moment a distraught dog realises she’s been abandoned by her family in an animal shelter

This is the heartbreaking moment an abandoned puppy sobs because she realizes her owners have abandoned her and will not return.

On May 17, four-year-old pit bull cross Electra was dumped at the Inland Valley Humane Society in Pomona, California, and put up for adoption.

The heartbroken dog can be seen looking sadly through her cage before looking down at the ground.

Lolys Menchaka, a local woman who helps the shelter find new homes for its animals, shared the heartbreaking footage on Facebook.

In the video’s caption, she wrote, ‘Electra represents the face of sadness and reality in the shelters.’

‘I don’t like to judge people who surrender their animals, but I can’t understand how the dogs come to the receiving department with their happy faces and proud posture.’

Electra’s crushing abandonment struck many of the more than 270,000 people who watched the video.

‘This is killing me.’ Those are some serious eyes. She’s terrified. The tail that wags. She still desires to be loved. One person wrote, ‘Dogs are so selfless.’

Thankfully, it appears that Electra has found a new home and is now listed as adopted at the top of the post, with the hope of a long and happy new life ahead of her.
