This Cat Survived the Marshall Fire; Now Rescuers Hope to Find His Family

An 8-year-old orange tabby survived the December 30 Marshall Fire, one of the most destructive in Colorado’s history. Rescuers found him in Louisville, one of the hardest-hit evacuated cities that burned for two days.

First, for an idea about the scale, the **fire burned **around 6,200 acres, 1,000 homes, and forced 35,000 people to evacuate. Considering all this, somehow, this kitty managed to survive the apocalyptic blaze. Days afterward, on **January 4, **someone found him, and rescuers took him to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

Unfortunately, this kitty, given the number of 49568957 for now, suffered severe burns from the fire. However, the Humane Society says he’s made “incredible progress.” Now, they are hoping to find his family so he can come home. Perhaps, they gave up hope their cat could survive such devastating fire, but he’s there waiting for them. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the reunion?

Recovering from the Fire

On Facebook, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) gave an amazing update on the orange tabby.

What it’s like to Work with Cats!

“We want to update you all on the incredible progress of one of the animals in our care,” they stated.

Thanks to them, he’s been receiving the best of care.

“This sweet orange tabby arrived at HSBV, suffering from severe burns after the Marshall Fire. After a few visits with our partners at local emergency veterinary clinics, he was transferred to us for specialized treatments and extended care.”

At some point, the little guy had to fight the flames.

“His face and paws were extremely burned, and our compassionate veterinary team quickly began treating him for the burns, cleaning his wounds and ensuring his pain is well-managed,” stated the HSBV.

Fortunately, as you can see from the pictures, the orange tabby has made big progress. Now, he’s ready to go home again. Hopefully, his family will learn about his whereabouts and come to the rescue!

Help Get this Kitty Home!

Amazingly, it seems this cat has already had “many hopeful guardians” come forward to claim him.

As the cat recovers, his features have helped them identify him better. So, they determined the rightful guardians haven’t come forward, not yet anyway. However, if they don’t come forward, there’s a waiting list of hopeful families who will take him. Great!

“We have cross-checked the lost cat reports, spoken to many hopeful guardians, and have unfortunately not yet been able to find his family,” they state.
