33 circus lions returned to Africa after a miserable life

The pure lions were saved and transported to South Africa

33 pure circus lions were freed after spending a miserable life in the travelling circuses in Peru and Colombia. The animal rescue organisation rescued the lions after a very difficult life.

The rescuers went through many difficulties while saving the lions from illegal circuses in Peru and Colombia.

Such circuses are banned in many countries, but many travelling circuses performed in distant areas and disappeared after the laws went into effect. A rescue organisation team worked with government to find and rescue the animals.

Many times they were followed with SWAT teams and riot police in order to save the animals. Then they transported the lions into their rescue centres.

It took 18 months after they were able to perform such trick. They were able to rescue 100 animals, from which 33 were lions. These big cats suffered all their lives in cages.

They managed to fly back to Africa. But unfortunately, the lions couldn’t live on their own because of their health state. Many of their claws and teeth were removed. They can’t survive in the wild, but they can go back to their birthplace.

The lions will live the rest of their lives in peace in South Africa.
